This specimen is from Zard Mountain in the Ras Koh Mountains, Kharan District in Balochustan, Pakistan. It consists of a mostly quartz and albite matrix that is covered with chlorite included quartz crystals, large anatase crystals. The piece measures 5 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 1 15/16 inches or 139 x 63 x 49 mm. The largest crystal is double terminated and measures 6 mm.

Description

This anatase is from the Kharan District in Balouchistan, Pakistan. The area contains pegmatites and alpine type deposits that are worked by the local residents for specimen recovery. There are 19 different minerals found there including the thee types of titanium oxide; anatase, brookite and rutile. This specimen consists of a mostly quartz and albite matrix that is covered with chlorite included quartz crystals and large (for the species) anatase crystals. The anatase have a gun metal blue color and a metallic luster. The largest crystal is double terminated and measures 6 mm. This piece measures 5 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 1 15/16 inches or 139 x 63 x 49 mm.
