Description

This vesuvianite crystal is from the Fushan Mine in She County, Handan, Hebei, China. This Mg-Al iron skarn deposit contains 26 different minerals including the silicate vesuvianite. It contains the elements Ca, Fe, Al, Mg, Si O and H. This specimen which is large for the species has a tetragonal habit. It has a brown amber to yellow color with a vitreous to glassy luster. It is translucent near the surface and edges. It measures 1 7/8 x 1 1/2 x 1 7/16 inches or 47 x 38 x 37 mm
