Description

This wulfenite is from the Rowley Mine in Theba, Painted Rock District, Painted Rock Mountains, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA.This mine contained over fifty recognized minerals including several varieties of lead based minerals such as wulfenite. It is a sulfate containing the elements Pb, Mo and O and is found in the oxidation zones of lead ore deposits. This specimen consists of a mostly quartz matrix that is covered on the display surface with druse barite crystals and square tabular wulfenites. They have a bright vitreous luster.  This piece measures 3 x 2 x 1 1/4 inches or 76 x 50 x 32 mm.
