Description
This wulfenite is from the Finch or Barking Spider Mine at Chilito, Hayden Area, Banner District, Dripping Springs Mountains, Gila County, Arizona, USA.This mine contained over one dozen recognized minerals including several varieties of lead based minerals such as wulfenite. It is a sulfate containing the elements Pb, Mo and O and is found in the oxidation zones of lead ore deposits. This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that is covered on the display surface with druse barite crystals and square tabular wulfenites. They have a bright vitreous luster. This piece measures 3 x 2 x 1 1/4 inches or 76 x 50 x 32 mm.
