Description
This whiteite is from Rapid Creek In the Dawson Mining District, Yukon Canada. This area contains several locales that contain over a dozen mines and diggings. The deposits contain a variety of phosphate minerals including whiteite. It contains the elements Ca, Fe and Mg. This specimen consists of a interpenetrating cluster of large (for the species) whiteite crystals with lazulite crystals and a remnant lazuite crystal matrix attached. This piece measures approximately 20 x 18 x 15 mm.
