This wavellite is from the Mauldin Mountain Quarry, Montgomery County, Arkansas, USA. Several accessory minerals exist at the quarry including the phosphate mineral wavellite. It contains the elements Al, P, O, H, and F. This locale was abandoned and closed and little to no new material is being found there.This specimen is an exception piece consisting of a thin novaculite matrix that is covered on the display side with large hemispherical clusters of crystals. The crystals are prismatic and the clusters are accicular with individual terminations. They have a blue-green color with a chatoyant glistening luster. This piece measures 2 5/8 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/4 inches or 48 x 41 x 32 mm.
