This wavellite is from Dug Hill near Avant, Garland County, Arkansas, USA. This locale contains five different phosphate minerals including wavellite which contains the elements Al, P, O, H and F. This locale is arguably the best locale for the species and the specimens are highly sort after. This specimen consists of a twisting novaculite (chert like) matrix that contains an exposed vein of wavellite crystal clusters. They are hemispherical clusters that have a pea green color and a vitreous luster. The piece measures 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 x 3/4 inches or 38 x 32 x 19 mm.
