Description
This vesuvianite crystal is from the Fushan Mine in She County, Handan, Hebei, China. This Mg-Al iron skarn deposit contains 26 different minerals including the silicate vesuvianite. It contains the elements Ca, Fe, Al, Mg, Si O and H. This crystal Is a large (for the species) tabular tetragonal crystal. It appears to be a type of vee-twin with smaller secondary crystal attached to one side. It has a brown to amber color with resinous to glassy luster. It is translucent near the surface and edges. It measures 1 5/16 x 1 1/16 x 7/8 inches or 33 x 26 x 22 mm.
