1 in stock

This vesuvianite is from the Jeffrey Mine (John Mansfield Mine), Asbestos, Les Sources RCM, Estrie, Quebec, Canada. This was an chrysotile asbestos mine until asbestos was identified as a health hazard. It is now inactive. One hundred and ten other minerals have been identified at the mine including vesuvianite. It can be found in a variety of colors depending on trace elements in the crystal lattice. This specimen has some pink tinted crystals which indicates the presence of manganese. This is a crystal covered vein section with natural recrystallized, terminated surfaces on all sides. The display surface hosts glassy translucent to transparent crystals of both green and purple (manganoan) vesuvianite. This piece measures 3 x 2 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches or 77 x 57 x 32 mm.
