Description
This vanadinite is from the Apex Mine, Manuel Benavides Municipality, Chihuahua Mexico. This locale contained 17 different mineral species but is best known for the outstanding vanadinite specimens found there. Vanadinite contains the elements Pb, V, O and Cl. This piece consists of a shallow bowl shaped formation of calcite crystals that hosts dozens of crystals and crystal clusters of elongated complex vanadinite crystals. The longest crystals are over 1 cm in length. This piece measures approximately 5 1/2 x 3 1/4 x 1 7/8 inches or 140 x 83 x 47 mm.
