Description
This vanadinite is from the Mibladen Mining District, Midelt, Morocco. This area contains dozens of commercial mines including small diggings that are mined specifically for vanadinite specimens. It is a phosphate mineral that contains the elements Pb, V, O and Cl. This specimen consists of a breccia quartz matrix that hosts dozens of single and clustered vanadinite crystals. The crystals have hexagonal thick tabular crystals. They have a bright glass luster and are partially translucent under bright light. This piece measures 1 5/8 x 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 inches or 41 x 38 x 32 mm.
