Description
This vanadinite is from the Mibladen Mining District, Midelt, Morocco. This area contains dozens of commercial mines including small diggings that are mined specifically for vanadinite specimens. It is a phosphate mineral that contains the elements Pb, V, O and Cl. This specimen consists of a sandstone like matrix that hosts dozens of large well defined clusters of vanadinite crystals. The crystals have hexagonal thick tabular habits. They have a bright glass luster and are partially translucent under bright light. This piece measures 2 5/8 x 1 3/8 x 1 inches or 67 x 35 x 25 mm.
