This vanadinite is from Touissit in the Touissit District, Jerada Province, Oriental Region, Morocco. This area contains lead-zinc deposits with 31 different mineral species including vanadinite. It is a phosphate containing the elements Pb, As, V, O and Cl. It is a secondary mineral found in the oxidation zones of the lead deposits. This specimen is an arsenic-rich ( arsenation ) variety of vanadinite that was once called endylictite. It consists of a sandstone like matrix that hosts large tabular to barrel shaped crystals. The piece measures 3 3/4 x 3 x 1 3/4 inches or 96 x 76 x 45 mm.
