Description
This uralite is from the Calumet Mine in the Turret District, Chafee County, Colorado, USA.Twenty-six different minerals are found at this mine including uralite. Uralite is part of the amphibole Super Group of minerals. It contains the elements Ax, Z, Si, Al Ti, O, H, and F. This specimen is a classic example that is representative of the mine and species. It consists of a thick matrix that is covered on the display side with blocky uralite crystals as well as clusters of fibrous and bladed crystals. The white crystals appear to be remnants of calcite. This piece measures 5 1/4 x 4 x 2 1/2 inches or 134 x 102 x 64 mm.
