Spodumene Floater – Variety Triphane from Minas Gerais

This spodumene is from the Chiar Mine in Sao Jose da Safira,  Minas Gerais, Brazil. The Chiar was mined primarily for the recovery of gemstone and gemstone specimens including spodumene. It is a silicate that contains the elements Li, Al, Si and O. This is a transparent floater crystal that recrystallized in hydro-thermal solution. It has terminated surfaces on all sides. The crystal has a  slight yellow color which is referred to as triphane. The crystal can be displayed from any angle. it measures 2 x 3/8 x 5/16 inches or 50 x 9 x 8 mm.
