1 in stock

This anhydrite is from the Naica Mine in Naica, Mun. de Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico. It is mined for its deposits of silver, lead and zinc minerals. This mine also contains 87 different mineral species. The 50 foot selenite crystals in its “cave of swords” is worth mentioning. It is also famous for the unique blue anhydrite specimens that were recovered from the mine. Anhydrite is a sulfate containg the elements Ca, S, and O. I have read that little material is being found now. This piece consists of several interpenetrating fan-like clusters of crystals. They are terminated, transluscent and have a pearly luster. This piece measures¬† 4 1/16 x 1 13/16 x 1 1/8 inches or 10.3 x 4.6 x 2.7 cm
