Description
This tourmaline, variety elbaite, crystal is from the Pederneira Mine in Sao Jose da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Ellbaite is in the Tourmaline Group of minerals. It is a silicate and it contains the elements Al, B, H, Li, Na, O and Si. It can be found in a variety of colors which are caused by traces of other elements in the crystal lattice. This crystal is transparent crystal with a teal/blue green color. It has an exceptional sharp pyramidal termination and glass luster. This piece measures 1 1/8 x 1/4 x 1/4 inches or 28 x 6 x 6 mm. It weighs 1.46 grams.
