This tourmaline is from Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is an elbaite crystal that is part of the Tourmaline Group of minerals. It contains the elements Al, B, H, Li, Na, O, and Si. The presence of trace elements in the lattice of the crystal are responsible for producing a variety of colors. This is an opaque crystal with a transparent glassy exterior. It sits on a cleavelandite crystal matrix and is studded with purple lepidolite.This piece measures approximately 1 1/2 x 7/8 x 5/8 inches or 39 x 22 x 16 mm. It weighs 6.56 grams.
