Description
This tourmaline is from the Chia Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is an elbaite crystal which is part of the Tourmaline Group of minerals. They contain the elements Al, B, H, Li, Na, O, and Si. The presence of trace elements in the lattice of the crystal are responsible for producing a variety of colors. This specimen consists of a matrix of lavender lepidolite crystals and a blue-green elbaite crystal. This piece measures 1 1/4 x 1 1/8 x 1 inches or 32 x 28 x 25 mm.
