This tourmaline is from the Chia Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is an elbaite crystal that is part of the Tourmaline Group of minerals. It contains the elements Al, B, H, Li, Na, O, and Si. The presence of trace elements in the lattice of the crystal are responsible for producing a variety of colors. This is a double terminated crystal with a light purple color, a glass luster, and lightly striated prism faces.This crystal measures approximately 1 7/16 x 5/16 x 1/4 inches or 37 x 8 x 6 mm.
