This tourmaline is from the Chia Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is an elbaite crystal that is part of the Tourmaline Group of minerals. It contains the elements Al, B, H, Li, Na, O, and Si. The presence of trace elements in the lattice of the crystal are responsible for producing a variety of colors. This crystal has a light purple color With a greenish top. It has a glass luster with lightly striated prism faces. It is mostly transparent with some internal flawing. The bottom termination has a healed surface. This crystal measures 17 x 9 x 7 mm and weighs 2.4 grams.
