This topaz is from Ouro Preto in the Iron Quadrangle of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This source is reportedly exhausted and topaz is no longer being found. It is a silicate and it contains the elements Al, Si, O, F, and H. It can be found in a variety of colors which are created by different trace impurities in the crystal lattice. The best Imperial topaz has a salmon pink color. This crystal has such a color. It is double terminated also. It measures 15 x 10 x 6 mm. It weighs 9.8 carats.
