This topaz is from Ouro Preto in the Iron Quadrangle of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This source is reportedly exhausted and topaz is no longer being found. It is a silicate and it contains the elements Al, Si, O, F, and H. It can be found in a variety of colors which are created by different trace impurities in the crystal lattice. This crystal has a orange color. It has a pyramidal termination and is- transparent with a glass luster. This is a gem transparent crystal and it appears to be about 50% eye clean. It measures 1 9/16 x 9/16 x 11/16 inches or 40 x 14 x 11 mm.
