Description

This mineral combination is from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Tennessee, US. This mine contains three shafts called the Elmwood, Cumberland, and Gordonsville. It has an entry slope called the Stonewall. They contain eleven different minerals including sphalerite which is the main ore mineral. Common gangue minerals like this fluorite and barite are found in pockets associated with sphalerite. This piece consists of a rosette-like plate of sphalerites that hosts a snowball barite and several cubic fluorites. This piece measures 3 x 2 1/2 x 1 7/8 inches or 76 x 64 x 47 mm.
