Description
This tetrahedrite is from the Hunan Province of China. This province is highly mineralized and contains almost a hundred different mines. The mines contain over three-hundred different minerals including tetrahedrite. It is a sulfide that contains the elements Cu, Sb and S. This specimen consists of a mound-like formation of silver-grey tetrahedrite crystals. They have a complex and uncommon morphology and a sub-metallic luster. There is some minor mica matrix attached. This piece measures 1 15/16 x 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 inches or 49 x 38 x 32 mm.
