Description

This sulfur specimen is from the Agrigento Province of Sicily, Italy. This area contains several different mines and the exact mine that specimens come from is almost impossible to identify. Sulfur is a native element referred to as S on the periodic table. This specimen consists of an elongated almost tabular sulfur crystal on a bitumin stained matrix. It is terminated and intact on all surfaces and it can be displayed from any side as each one has unique qualities. IThe sulfur has translucent areas near the surface with brown to black bitumen deposits and inclusions.This piece measures 2 1/2 x 1 5/8 x 1 inches or 64 x 41 x 25 mm.
