Description

This sulfur specimen is from the Agrigento Province of Sicily, Italy. This area contains several different mines and the exact mine that specimens come from is almost impossible to identify. Sulfur is a native element referred to as S on the periodic table. This specimen consists of a complex sulfur crystal with several secondary crystals attached. They are on an aragonite matrix that has traces of bitumen. It can be displayed from any side as each one has unique qualities. It has translucent areas near the surface with brown to black bitumen deposits and inclusions.This piece measures 2 x 1 3/4 x 1 1/2 inches or 50 x 45 x 38 mm.
