This sulfur crystal plate is from the Desierto Mine in San Pablo de Napa, Daniel Campos Province, Potosi, Bolivia. This is a sulfur mine that contains over a dozen different minerals but is most famous for the collector quality sulfur specimens that are found there. This piece is a plate-like formation consisting of a massive to crystalline sulfur base that is topped with bright yellow, glassy, translucent to transparent sulfur crystals. The crystals have several different morphologies including rhombic, scalenohedral, and hoppered habits. This piece measures 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 x 1 5/8 inches or 114 x 82 x 41 mm.
