Description
This stibnite is from the Raura District in the Catajambo Province, Lima, Peru. This district encompases over 24 square kilometers in area and is mined by several operations. It contains 16 different minerals including stibnite. It is a sulfide that contains the elements Sb and S. This specimen consists of sprays and blade-like crystals on a porous quartz matrix. They have a bright silver color and a sub-metallic luster. This piece measures 3 1/2 x 3 1/8 x 1 3/8 inches or 88 x 79 x 35 mm.
