Description
This spodumene crystal is from the Chia Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Several silicate minerals are found at this mine including spodumene. Spodumene is a lithium rich silicate that contains the elements Li, Si, Al and O. This crystal has been recrystallized or altered by chemical and temperature changes in the hydrothermal solutions in which it formed creating a floater that has terminated surfaces on all sides. This crystal is a large thumbnail that measures 1 x 9/16 x 9/16 inches or 25 x 14 x 14 mm
