Description
This sphalerite with fluorite is from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Tennessee, US. This mine contains three shafts called the Elmwood, Cumberland, and Gordonsville. It has an entry slope called the Stonewall. They contain eleven different minerals including sphalerite which is the main ore mineral. The fluorite is a common gangue mineral associated with the sphalerite. This specimen is a plate-like formation made up of lustrous complex sphalerite crystals that hosts five small cubic fluorites. This piece measures approximately 3 5/8 x 2 13/16 x 1 1/4 inches or 92 x 68 x 32 mm
