This sphalerite crystal plate is from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Tennessee, USA. This mine contains three shafts called the Elmwood, Cumberland, and Gordonsville. It has an entry slope called the Stonewall. They contain eleven different minerals including sphalerite which is the primary ore mineral. This iplate-like formation of lustrous complex sphalerite crystals that hosts a pair of small fluorite crystals.. This piece measures 3 x 2 1/4 x 1 inches or 75 x 57 x 25 mm.
