Description
This sphalerite is from the Buick Mine at Bixby, Iron County, Missouri, USA. This mine is situated on a Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu-Co-Ni-Cd occurrence or polymetallic deposit. It contains 22 different minerals including the zinc sulfide sphalerite, This piece consists primarily of large well defined sphalerite crystals that in turn hosts pyrite, quartz, and minor chalcopyrite. It is a heavy specimen that measures 4 3/16 x 2 7/8 x 2 3/8 inches or 107 x 70 x 60 mm.
