This hematite is from the NadorĀ hematite deposit in the Nador Province, Oriental Region, Morocco. This is a well known location that contains two types of hematite including the specular variety. . It is an oxide containing the elements Fe and O. This specimen consists of a rhyolite matrix that contains hematite crystals on both sides. The display side, shown in photos, is covered with bright silver, crystals.. They range from hematitic flakes to tabular and euhedral crystals up to approximately 4 mm across. Their luster is metallic. This piece measures 4 3/4 x 3 x 1 5/8 inches or 12.1 x 7.6 x 4.1 cm.
