Description
This spangolite is from the Mex-Tex Mine in Bingham, Hansonburg District, Socorro County, New Mexico, USA. This was a lead mine that contained 43 different minerals including the copper sulfate spangolite. It contains the elements Cu, Al, S, O and H. This specimen consists of a barite crystal matrix and euhedral spangolite crystals with acicular crystals of brochantite (another copper sulfate) scattered about the piece. It measures 1 1/2 x 7/8 x 3/4 inches or 38 x 22 x 19 mm.
