This skutterudite is from Bou Azzer in Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Province, Souss-Massa-Draa Region, Morocco. This a mineral rich region that contains 234 mineral species including skutterudite. It is an arsenide that contains the elements Co and As. This specimen consists of a thick skutterudite matrix (2 1/2 pounds) that has dozens of crystals and secondary clusters of iridescent, druse calcite, crystals on the display surface. The crystals have cuboctahedral and tetrahedral habits. They have a silver-grey color and metallic luster. The largest crystal is approximately 12 mm across. This piece measures 4 x 3 x 2 1/2 inches or 10.2 x 7.6 x 6.3 cm.
