This native silver is from Porco in Agua de Castilla, Antonio Quijarro Province, Potosi Department, Bolivia. This area encompasses hundreds of square kilometers that contain intrusions and deposits of over one hundred different mineral species. It is mined primarily for silver, zinc, tin, lead and other associated ore minerals. Occasionally deposits of native silver in crystal and wire form appear on the market. These are an excellent example of a sponge-like mass of twisted and turned silver wires from Porco. It measures approximately 28 mm across.
