Silver on Calcite – Bouismas Mine, Draa-Tafilalet Region

This native silver is from the Bouismas Mine at Agdz Cercle, Zagora Province, Draa-Tifilalet Region, Morocco. This is a silver mine that contains 26 different minerals including native silver. A silver rich vein was mined from 2008-2010. This piece consists of a white calcite matrix that has been etched to reveal heavy deposits or leafy veins of native silver. There is silver in varying amounts on all sides of the piece. Therre is some remnant mounting tack on the rear of the piece as shown in photo 6.  It measures 3 1/2 x 3 x 1 7/16 inches or 88 x 76 x 37mm. It weighs 7.9 oz.
