Description
This siderite is from the Julcani District, Angareas Province of the Huancavelica Department of Peru. This is a heavily minerals area that contains several mines that contains dozens of different minerals including siderite. It is A carbonate that contains the elements Fe, C, and O. It also has several morphologies including rhombohedral habits like these crystals. This specimen consists of a pyrite and quartz crystal matrix that hosts excellent chatoyant rhombic siderite crystals. This piece measures 1 5/8 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/8 inches or 41 x 41 x 28 mm.
