Description
This serandite is from Mont Saint-Hilaire in La Vallee-du-Richelieu RCM, Monteregie, Quebec, Canada. Over 450 different mineral species including serandite have been found as accessory minerals in the stone quarries located here. Serandite is a silicate that contains the elements Na, Mn, Si O and H. This is a block shaped formation of blade-like elongated serandite crystals with secondary deposits of crystals attached. This piece measures 2 5/16 x 1 1/4 x 1 1/16 inches or 58 x 32 x 26 mm.
