Description
This septarian nodule is from Orderville in Kane County, Utah, USA . It is called a septarian nodule because of the random polygonal patterns found within which are called septaria. The formation is a sedimentary nodule, concretion or geode type structure whose interior is filled with contrasting deposits of calcite and calcite crystals. This piece has been cut into a heart shape and polished to a gem-like luster. It measures approximately 52 x 48 x 38 mm.
