Description

This scheelite crystal is from the Pingwu Beryl Mine in the Huya Township, Mt Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China. This mine is well known for its production of mineral specimens that also includes aquamarine and cassiterite. Scheelite is a sulfate that contains the elements Ca, W, and O and it is an ore of tungsten. This crystal has a pyramidal habit and a pseudo-octahedral morphology with complex growth on the prism faces. This specimen measures 1 3/4 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/2 inches or 45 x 41 x 38 mm.
