Description

This rutile pseudomorph  is from the Cuiaba District in Gouveia, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This locale contains both anatase and rutile which are polymorphs of titanium dioxide. This is a complex crystal formation consisting of multiple, elongated, and dipyramidal rutile pseudomorphs of anatase. The original anatase has been replaced or mostly replaced by bronze rutile crystals. The crystals have a fibrous appearance, are somewhat chatoyant, and have a silken luster. This piece is terminated and complete on all sides. It measures 15 x 11 x 8 mm.
