Description
This rutile on hematite is from Novo Horizonte in Bahia, Brazil. This locale is famous for the rutilated quartz and rutile on hematite specimens found there. Hematite and rutile are both oxides. This specimen consists of a mix of interpenetrating crystals of hematite and elongated rutile crystals. There is a heavy matte-like growth of golden rutile crystals on the barely visible hematite. This piece measures approximately 2 x 1 3/8 x 7/8 inches or 50 x 35 x 22 mm.. There will be minor shedding of some of the rutile crystals during shipping.
