These rose quartz crystals are from Plumbago Mountain in Newry, Oxford County, Maine, USA. Quartz is a silicate containing the elements Si and O. Rose quartz gets it’s unique pink colors from the trace elements Al and P that are present in the crystal lattice. It is found In pegmatite pockets usually as a secondary growth on quartz and other silicates. This specimen consists of a feldspar matrix that hosts an exposed pocket filled with rose quartz crystals. They have a pastel pink color and a vitreous luster. This piece measures 2 3/4 x 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 inches or 70 x 38 x 32 mm. The cluster is 12 mm across.
