Description

This rhodonite is from the San Martin Mine, in Chiurucu, Huallanca, Bolognesi, Province, Ancash Department, Peru. This mine contains eight different mineral species including rhodonite. It is a silicate that contains the elements Mn, Si and O. This specimen consists of a cluster of randomly oriented bladed rhodonite crystals. The crystals have a rich rose pink color. There are small pyrites scattered about the piece also. This piece measures 1 1/2 x 1 5/16 x 1 inches or 38 x 33 x 25 mm.
