Description
This rhodizite is from the Ampasogona Pegmatite in the Betafo District, Antananarivo Province, Madagascar. The specimens are collected by the villagers in the Highland pegmatites and are then sold in the local market place for collector pieces. It contains the elements K, Cs, Al, Be, B, and O. This specimen consists of a mostly feldspar matrix that contains several partial rubellite crystals and a single well defined rhodizite crystal. This piece measures 1 7/8 x 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 inches or 47 x 45 x 32 mm.
