This red beryl is from the Ruby Violet Claims In the Wah Wah Mountains, Beaver County, Utah, USA. Red beryl is one of the rarest, or possibly rarest, type of beryl. It is sometimes referred to as bixbite. It is a found in a hand full of locations and the best specimens, arguably, are from these claims. Beryl is a silicate and it contains the elements Be, Al, Si and O. This piece consists of several crystals mixed with a rhyolite matrix. The crystals average 3-4 mm across. This piece measures approximately 13 x 10 x 9  mm.
