Description
This realgar is from the Palomo Mine in the Castrovirreyna Province, Huancavelica, Peru. This mine is a Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag-Au mine that contains almost two dozen different minerals including several arsenic sulfides like orpiment and realgar. This piece consists of a quartz crystal matrix that hosts several cuboctahedral galena crystals and vivid red realgar crystals, orange orpiment and bronze anorpiment. This piece can be displayed from different angles and sides to accent the different qualities of the piece. It measures 3 1/2 x 3 x 1 3/8 inches or 88 x 76 x 35 mm
