Description
This quartz is from cavnic in Maramures County, Romania. This is a heavily mineralized area that has been mined since the middle ages. It contains over seventy different minerals including quartz and pyrite. This specimen consists of glassy translucent to transparent smokey quartz crystals with small deposits of dolomite and pyrite crystals scattered about the piece.This large piece measures 9 3/8 x 5 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches or 238 x 140 x 96 mm.
